Keep Your Hair + Skin Happy This Winter
As temps drop and heaters kick on, our hair and skin start begging for a little extra TLC. Here are some quick, low-effort tips to stay soft, hydrated, and glowing all winter long:

💨 Sleep (and Work) with a Humidifier
Indoor heat = dry air = dry everything.
A humidifier adds moisture back into the air, helping your skin, scalp, and hair stay hydrated.
💡 Fun Fact: Products with hyaluronic acid actually pull moisture from the air — so if the air is dry, they can’t do their job! Keeping a humidifier running gives those products something to work with (and helps your hair and skin stay plump and happy).
🧽 Quick Tip:
• Use it nightly in your bedroom or daytime in your office.
• Clean weekly: empty the water, wipe with vinegar or gentle soap, rinse, and let dry.
• Deep clean monthly: soak the tank with equal parts water + white vinegar for 30 mins.
💧 Switch to a Creamy Moisturizer
Gel moisturizers are great for summer, but winter calls for richer textures.
Think: creams, balms, or facial oils — your skin will drink it up!
My winter skin go-tos:
💙 CeraVe Moisture Cream – rich, gentle, and packed with ceramides to restore your skin barrier. It's also fragrance free!
💙 CeraVe Healing Ointment – I layer this on top of the cream on dry spots (face, lips, eyes, hands, and feet) to seal in hydration.
💅 Bonus Hand + Foot Tip:
Once or twice a week, before bed, apply CeraVe Moisture Cream to your hands, layer the Healing Ointment over it, slip on cotton gloves (or socks for feet), and sleep like that. You’ll wake up baby-soft — no hand cream comes close!
Although my HOLY GRAIL hand cream is LaRoche Posay Cicaplast Hand Cream
✨ Cuticle Care Tip:
CND SolarOil keeps cuticles soft and healthy. Its jojoba oil + vitamin E blend hydrates deeply and prevents cracking and hangnails — perfect for winter dryness.
🧴 Hydrate Your Hair Like You Hydrate Your Skin
Cold, dry air can make hair feel brittle and dull — so give it a hydration boost!
💧 Swap your shampoo + conditioner:
If your hair feels extra dry or static-y, switch to a more hydrating formula made for your hair type and texture. (Fine hair, curls, and color-treated strands all need different moisture levels!)
🫶 Use a deep conditioning mask once a week:
Pick one that suits your hair’s needs — lightweight for fine hair, rich and buttery for thick or curly hair.
✨ Don’t skip the leave-in:
A hair-specific leave-in conditioner is key in winter! It locks in moisture, tames static, and protects from heat and dry indoor air — keeping your hair smooth and soft between washes.
💫 Still battling static?
Try misting a bit of Young Again Dry Conditioner by Kevin Murphy lightly on your ends. It adds softness, shine, and weightless moisture — perfect for those stubborn flyaways.
🌿 Pro Tip: Apply a few drops of lightweight oil mid-week to seal in shine and hydration.
🛁 Keep the Showers Short + Warm (Not Hot!)
Hot water feels amazing but strips your natural oils.
Stick to warm water and finish with a quick cool rinse for extra shine.
👒 Protect While You Sleep
Switch to a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce frizz and breakage.
Or tie your hair in a loose braid or bonnet before bed to keep it smooth.
🫶 Don’t Forget the Scalp!
If you notice flakes or tightness, treat your scalp like skin:
Gently exfoliate with a scalp brush or scrub once a week and follow with a light oil or leave-in conditioner.
My go to dry scalp and dandruff solution is the Biogeo Scalp Revival Shampoo (and other things from that line).
☕️ Hydrate From the Inside, Too
Warm herbal teas, water with lemon, or even bone broth — your hair and skin love hydration in all forms!
I hope these are helpful to you through the colder months. If you have any other helpful tips, or want to share your favorite one, please leave them in a comment!
