Hairbrush Care - When, Why, & How

Why it's Important to Wash Your Hair Brush:

* Maintains Scalp Health: Regularly cleaning your hair brush prevents the buildup of oils, dead skin cells, and product residue, promoting a healthier scalp.

* Prevents Bacterial Growth: Washing your brush helps eliminate bacteria and fungi that can thrive in a dirty brush, reducing the risk of infections or skin issues.

* Extends the Life of Your Hair Brush: Keeping it clean prevents the bristles from becoming clogged and ensures optimal performance, making your brush last longer.

* Enhances Hair Hygiene: A clean brush means cleaner hair. Removing debris and old hair from the brush prevents them from being redeposited onto your freshly washed hair.

* Improves Styling Results: A clean brush ensures smoother styling and detangling, allowing you to achieve the desired look without interference from accumulated residue.

How to Wash Your Hair Brush:

* Remove Hair: Use a comb or your fingers to remove hair trapped in the bristles. This makes the cleaning process more effective.

* Prepare a Soapy Solution: Mix a mild shampoo (clarifying is best!) or liquid soap with warm water in a bowl.

* Soak the Brush: Submerge the brush in the soapy water, ensuring that the bristles are completely covered.

* Scrub and Clean: Use an old toothbrush or a designated brush cleaning tool to scrub between the bristles, removing any residue. Pay attention to the base and handle as well.

* Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse the brush under running water to remove soap and loosened debris.

* Dry Properly: Shake off excess water and let the brush air dry with the bristles facing down to prevent water from collecting in the base. Ensure it's completely dry before using it again.

Remember to clean your hair brush regularly, aiming to remove the hair at least once a week and to wash it once a month, to maintain optimal hygiene and hair care.

Bonus Tip: Don't forget to also clean off the vent(s) of your blow dryer for longevity and efficiency!
